Description
This is a rare stand for umbrellas or walking sticks by; Liberty & Co of London, possibly a Leonard Wyburd designed piece. Solid oak and some quarter sawn. The horizontal and angular flap lifts up for storage. The liner is original and can be easily beaten back into shape with lead beating tools. The cut out motif on the sides can be usually found on drop leaf tables. Also the heart shaped cut outs are typical of Liberty,s and can be seen on other pieces of Liberty furniture.
This is a pretty scarce item and no other example appears to have been seen on the open market for many years. Sold as found for £395 .
The stand can be restored and will be £695 .
