Brass capped fluted hood columns, trunk sides with canted base corners. Fan inlays to the base panel. A swan-neck hood pediment surmounted by 3 original wooden finials. An attractive painted dial with floral corners, birds and 5 minute outer markers. Lunar moon phases and a date dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. The Houghton family of clockmakers are well recorded in Loomes' 'Lancashire Clockmakers' book and worked in the 18th and 19th centuries in and around the Liverpool area.
