Magnificent Vincenti Antique French Ormolu Striking Mantel Clock

ere is this truly magnificent antique French ormolu mantel clock. It is marked with a Vincenti & Cie "Medaille D'Argent" stamp, which was awarded at the Expo Universelle Paris in 1855. The clock dates to circa 1855-1870. This superb clock has a solid gilt bronze case, with a beautifully modelled figure, in matt and polished gold, of a winged Cupid with his bow, quiver and arrows to the right side of the clock drum. There is a similar figure of a winged putto / cherub holding his finger to his lips, to the left side of the clock drum. He has a rose at his feet. The clock drum is surmounted by a large basket of flowers which is topped with sweet. nesting birds, all beautifully modelled. It has lion mask and ring handles to the sides, with garlands of flowers tumbling from the rings. The base is scrolling and geometric decoration. supported by scrolling foliate feet. The clock has a white enamel face with Roman numerals in blue and elaborate gilt hands. The dial is marked "HATTON, PARIS". for the prestigious French retailer. The face is covered by a glass door. The high quality clock movement strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. The count wheel is visible on the back. As mentioned previously, the movement is impressed to the back with a Vincenti "Medaille D'Argent 1855" stamp and also with the serial number "597" and "P.L. tre". The movement is protected by a glass door. The clock has been checked and oiled and is working very well. It will come complete with its original numbered pendulum, bell and a key. This fabulous clock stands 18 inches high, 21 inches wide and around 6 1/2 inches deep. It is in very good/excellent antique condition.
