Dating from circa 1880 this is a gorgeous example from a respected provincial maker - George Lewton - whose son followed him into the successful family business in the Bristol area. Standing 214 cms tall on restored bracket feet this fantastic mahogany case with boxwood string inlay and inlaid marquetry to the trunk and door is in excellent condition having benefited from refurbishment. The eight day four pillar rack-striking movement has been overhauled and strikes the full hour on a lovely bell and the dial with working date function is again in lovely condition adorned with rural scenes. The hood has barley twist columns and brass capitals with similar boxwood inlay detailing and topped with matching finials this is a beautiful piece of furniture which comes with a two year warranty.

Rather than trusting a courier of any sort I unreservedly recommend collection or I can deliver regionally/nationally. All antique clocks require delicate handling and specific setting up so it is far better for a dealer to meet a client and talk them through the process, or set the clock up for them, rather than leave the client struggling at the other end on their own.
