Mary Farl Powers (1948-92) was born in America but moved to Ireland as a young child. She studied at the National College of Art Dublin and later joined the Graphic Studio collective of printmakers in the early 1970s, of which she became a director in the late 70s until her premature death in 1992. The Irish Museum of Modern Art holds some 50 artworks of hers and she is also represented in the collections of the Arts Council of Ireland, the Ulster Museum, University College Dublin and many others. She is considered to have increased significantly the practice of printmaking in Ireland. This example of her work is an Artist's Proof no I/V.
