These two micro-barographs by Short & Mason are ideal for the serious observer as the record produced is more than double the size of the standard barograph. The trade catalogue describes the the instrument as having a high degree of sensitivity and actual movements of the pen are plainly visible during storms or atmospheric disturbances.
The cases are in a black crackle finish with thick bevelled glass to the lift-off lid. The movement is described as 'super-sensitive high grade movement' and a special one-piece vacuum-pile element eliminating hysteresis. The clocks are both weekly rotation and various chart options are available. Attaced is an extract from Short and Mason's trade catalogue dated November 1957. These two examples would have been manufactured around this time.
Both are priced at £675 each with an additional £45 for the sturdy hardwood ebonized plinth adding 33mm to the height, creating an even more commanding instrument.
Weekly recording charts are available in various formats.
