Description
Mid-19th Century Oak Glazed Display Cabinet with Adjustable Pine Shelves – Sage Green Interior
A handsome and functional mid-19th century oak glazed display cabinet, showcasing the timeless elegance of Victorian craftsmanship. The cabinet features a large single glazed door divided into four glass panels, framed by reeded oak columns on either side, and topped with a removable cornice for easier transportation.
The interior has been recently relined and hand-painted in a soft sage green, creating a calm and complementary background for displaying books, ceramics, or collections. Inside are adjustable pine shelves, which have been carefully stabilized with discreet spacers to address prior unevenness—only visible if the shelves are removed and flipped.
The heavy glazed door is original and comes with a non-original key, which only partially operates the lock. A swivel catch could easily be added if a more secure closure is desired. For safety, especially due to the door's weight, wall fixing is recommended, and there are historic brass fittings on the rear for this purpose.
This character-rich display cabinet is made from solid oak, with a warm finish and classic proportions—an ideal piece for traditional or country interiors.
