Manufacturer: n/k unmarked Material: Beech and Elm (seat) Colour: Caramel/medium Oak Near matching pair of Mid Victorian (circa 1840-1860) scroll back (ring turned to either side of the scroll) 'Oxford' chairs from the High Wycombe area, unmarked. Slight difference in size, ring turning on the legs and horns - both the same colour. Widely produced in the mid to late 19th century and often referred to as an ‘Oxford’ chair but made in numerous workshops by different craftsmen throughout Buckinghamshire and the region. Patina, grain pattern and detailing to seat pads.
