Oak Pedestal Desk
REF: 2007 / LA332994
This is an early 20th century oak pedestal writing desk. The desk consists of two large pedestals with four drawers to the left hand pedestal and three drawers to the right hand pedestal (one is a double depth drawer, with a partition). There is also a shallow central drawer. All drawers retain their original carved pull handles. The drawers reach to the rear of the pedestals, making them exceptionally deep from front to back, providing good storage. The desk is fitted with a pull-out 'secretary' slide to the top of each pedestal. The pedestals and the central rear section are of panelled construction. The desk is constructed in quarter sawn oak throughout, showing the 'medullary rays' to good effect (often called tiger oak in America). The desk disassembles for ease of movement. Knee-hole size - H65cm x W70cm
Oakfield Gallery has clarified that the Oak Pedestal Desk (LA332994) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1920
The desk is in very good clean condition and displays a rich and mellow colour.
