Ornate Victorian Narrow Pine Bookcase or Display

An unusual antique piece dating to the mid 19th century, this fabulous narrow bookcase is reputedly from a Victorian Dorset library. The applied faux carved wood decoration has some wonderful motifs and it will make a beautiful focal point for any room, for smaller books or as a display case. - Grained, painted pine. - Composite decoration formed to look like carved wood. - Ornate head at the top centre, with a face at the top of the door and a man and a woman to the top left and right. - Fruit and leaf motifs throughout, with gadrooning beneath the top cornice. - Glazed top with 3 removable shelves. - Fixed shelf in the bottom cupboard. In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. It is sturdy, with the decoration in good order and the piece has a characterfully distressed appearance.
