This is a pair of antique carver chairs. An English, mahogany and leather elbow seat in the Chippendale manner, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800. Superb Chippendale taste and fine craftsmanship that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select stocks show fine grain interest and rich, deep caramel hues. Wonderful leather pads, tanned in a rich burgundy hue. Serpentine cresting rail, with scrolled detail to the 'Chippendale' ears. Leading into a striking, pierced ribbon back splat with graceful fretwork. Sinuous arms terminate in appealing scrolled knuckles. Each arm raised upon a slender, forward canted support. Quality, leather upholstery in good order, free of marks or loss. Professionally reupholstered and traditionally stuffed cushioning. Drop-in seat at a comfortable height of 46.5cm (18.25"), resting upon later reinforced brackets. Raised upon square section front legs, with a gently splayed pair to the rear.
