This is a pair of antique elephant bookends. An Anglo-Indian, ebony and bone decorative novel or book rest, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890. Offering excellent character and display appeal for the reader. Displaying a desirable aged patina throughout. Skilfully carved ebony presents deep hues and fine grain interest. Each tusk and toe detail accentuated with contrasting warm cream hue. Quality emerald green baize adds protection to the base.
