This is a pair of antique elephant bookends. An Indian, coromandel decorative novel or book rest, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Offering charming character and display appeal for the reader. Each displaying a desirable aged patina throughout. Skilfully carved Coromandel presents deep hues and fine grain interest. Each turned tusk and toe detail accentuated with contrasting warm cream hues. Quality leather cushion pad adds protection to the base. Ideal for lining up favourite novels upon a wall shelf or within a cabinet.
