Description
This is a pair of antique fireside andirons. A French, brass and wrought iron chenet or firedog in Baroque taste, dating to the mid 18th Century period, circa 1750.
Fascinating andirons with bold figural appeal and bright tonality, displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order. Quality polished brass radiates a bright golden hue. Wrought iron arms presented with a graphite finish.
Twist relief adorns a small finial atop a bulb with fleur de lys motif. Classic marmouset masks adorn the shaped lower. In exaggerated female form, creating prominent relief decoration. Charming scrolled toes to the rest stabilising the andiron.
This is a delightful pair of antique fireside andirons, with appealing Baroque taste and distinctive mask detail. Delivered ready for the lounge.
