Here we have a beautiful pair of antique sterling silver salt cellars from the early 1900s. They would be a lovely way of serving salt and pepper at the dinner table. They come in a gift bag.
They were made by Deakin & Francis who were well known for making good quality silverware, and they were hallmarked in Birmingham in 1916. The maker’s marks and Hallmarks are on the sides of both salts.
The salts are circular with a decorative ring around the side and round rim bases. Both have blue glass liners.
They’re in good condition with the silver shiny and some tarnish spots to the outside and a bit more tarnish inside. One of the glass liners has a small chip to its outside edge which isn’t very noticeable.
measurements
Together the silver weight is 40g. The diameter at the top of the salts is 4.3cm (nearly 1 3/4 inches). The height is 3.5cm (just over 1 3/8 inches).
