Description
This is a pair of antique Oriental dog bookends. A Chinese, soapstone decorative 'Dog of Fo' book rest, dating to circa 1900.
Delightfully tactile dogs with a lovely natural finish and appearance displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Soapstone in good order with warm cream and grey mottled appearance. Represents a sitting Dog of Fo with the strong Oriental influence. Great detail to the face and exuberant coat and one paw raised upon a brocade ball. Broad socle base with shaped edge and dressed to the base with a leather protective pad.
This is a wonderful pair of antique Oriental dog bookends, with appealing natural colour. Delivered ready to display.
