They both have maker's plaques undeneath for Carnegie & Co. of Newcastle Street.

Overall this attractive pair of chairs are in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and they are overall a little faded. There are some signs of old restoration and repair and some shrinkage splitting and cracking around the seats. One of the chairs has some wood loss to the front of one of the front feet. One back rail is a little loose. Otherwise they are solid and usuable but do have some slight movement in the joints.
