declaration

The Fancy Fox has clarified that the Pair of Derby Porcelain Bocage Figures of Sheep, Ram & Ewe c.1770 (LA363353) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1770

condition

Condition is very good: the ram is suffering a loss to his right ear. He has a tight hairline across his front right leg and glaze lines partway around his rear legs. The ewe has a tiny nick to the tip of her ear. Both have the usual minor losses to the bocage and some wear to the gilding on the bases. The slightly different decoration to the bases and tones of the green enamels show that they have been matched but work very well together. No restoration.
