Description
Pair of Scottish Georgian silver serving spoons in the Kings pattern. Single struck - as is typical for Scottish flatware. Hallmarked for the Glasgow assay office, 1825. Makers mark 'W.R' for William Russell. Monogrammed with a gothic 'R'. 22.5cm in length.
From 1824 to 1833 the mark of W.R as seen on these spoons is registered by William Russell as a Glasgow silver maker (of flatware). He was previously in partnership with a William Mitchell - listed as silver makers, Mitchell & Russell, at the Glasgow assay office in 1819. This partnership dissolved in 1823.
