Pair of Mappin and Webb Silver Viking Boat Dishes

We have for sale a rather striking pair of Mappin and Webb solid silver Viking Boat shaped dishes. These dishes are of a flat bottomed Viking boat form with a perforated rim. They are suitable for numerous uses including sweetmeat dishes, bonbon dishes or condiment dishes making. Both dishes carry full English hallmarks for Birmingham 1939 along with the makers marks for Mappin and Webb to the edge of the flat base. Each dish also carries two further marks, a Registered Design number RD 648281 and a MAPPIN & Webb Ltd stamp. The dishes are 5.25 inches (13.3cm) long and weigh a total 124.5g according to our scales. The dishes are in a good condition but there are one or two small indentations and the bases of the sauce dishes carry the standing surface contact wear one would expect from pieces of silver with flat bases.
