Description
These impressive pair of Staffordshire spill vases depict a shepherd and Shepherdess. He stands with a shepherd's crook in one hand and a flute in the other, his faithful dog by his side and a lamb at his feet. She stands with a sheep and a lamb at her feet. The trees beside them are hollow to hold the spills. They are both hand painted in overglaze enamels.

Wessex House Antiques has clarified that the Pair of Staffordshire Spill Vases: Shepherd & Shepherdess c.1870 (LA120655) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1870
condition
There is some paint wear to the overglaze enamels where the white underglaze shows through. The shepherd has a small firing crack to his arm. There are no post production cracks or restorations to the pieces. Please inspect the photographs closely to assess the condition and quality of these lovely pieces.
