A wonderful pair of solid sterling silver entree dishes made by the great Paul Storr towards the end of the 18th Century. They have elegant plain styling with a broad gadroon border and high domed covers. The detachable handles feature hooves, perhaps to mirror the family crest which is a rearing stag. They are hallmarked for London 1792. The marks inside the covers are crisp whilst those below the handles on the bases are a little rubbed but still discernible. One of the bases has 'Storr and Mortimer' on the base. The other base is split into two separate dishes.
The Silver Cabinet has clarified that the Pair of Storr Georgian Silver Entree Dishes 1792 (LA323586) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1792
Light surface abrasions but otherwise good.
