Description
The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, signed Cyma, which is working nicely. The movement is also signed Breveté Sgdg, a French type of patent that ceased in 1968. The name was an abbreviation for "Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement“.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in good condition, just three or four small marks to the back, nothing serious at all.
The acrylic lens is in good condition, as is the signed dial. There is some white reflection showing in the photos.
The watch comes with a double watch albert, with each chain measuring 22cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
Also included is an antique English sovereign holder by J W Benson. This is one of the nicest sovereign holders we have seen with an applied motto to the front, "Deus nobis haec otia fecit", it is a Latin phrase that translates to "God hath granted us this ease" or "God has given us these days of leisure", the motto of Liverpool. The bird is a liver bird, a mythical creature that is the symbol of the English city of Liverpool. It is normally represented as a cormorant, and appears as such on the city's arms, in which it bears a branch of laver seaweed in its beak as a further pun on the name "Liverpool"
The watch, chain and sovereign holder come in a new presentation box.
