The watch has a 7 jewel grade 610 stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 24,009,988 which dates it back to around 1921. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark), 1919 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is in good condition, just a few little marks to the engine turned detail on the back of the watch.
The acrylic lens is in good condition, just a short very light scratch but you have to look closely to see it. Some natural light reflection showing in the photos.
The signed dial is in lovely condition. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.
The watch comes with an antique silver watch chain and fob.
The chain measures 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is hallmarked for Birmingham 1905. Each of the links has the silver lion mark.
Also included is a silver fob hallmarked for 1918. The fob was awarded to Pte J E Ford, awarded by Southern District Ireland Sports for ‘rugger’ in 1919.
Total weight 38g.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland).
