Highly unusual large fob for a Gentleman's pocket watch chain made from the steel of the foremast of the famous ship Cutty Sark which was built in Dumbarton, Scotland, 1869. Measures; 7.1 cm height (including the top ring), 3.9cm width and weighs a heavy 35.2 grams. Highly detailed oval form, bevel edge fob depicting to the front in great detail the sailing ship Cutty Sark riding the waves and is stamped around in raised arched script; THE CLIPPER SHIP CUTTY SARK. The back is smooth, highly polished (free from any inscriptions or initials) and is clearly impressed stamped; THIS METAL ORIGINATES FROM THE SHIP'S FOREMAST BUILD IN 1869. Excellent clean and bright condition with absolutely no wear or damage and just a tiny bit of overall patina as to be expected.
