Victorian Gentleman's original and most unusual Antique Sterling silver (fully hallmarked) pocket watch chain chunky fob with equestrian interest and depicting a Humber Roadster bicycle.
(Please excuse all the reflections and dark shadows in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph).
Measures; 3.6cm height (including the top ring), 2.4cm width, 8mm depth and weighs a very respectable 6.4 grams.
Fabulous Sterling silver fancy half moon shaped mount which is beautifully adorned with engine turned scrollwork and has an ornate equestrian horseshoe to top.
Held securely to centre is a wide Sterling silver slightly textured 'drum' case which depicts behind the two original bevel edge, thick glass lenses (not acrylic) a detailed in golden gilt Victorian Gentleman proudly riding a 'new fangled' 1892 Humber No.14 Roadster bicycle (same to both sides and has been photographed as such).
Clearly and boldly hallmarked (within different shaped, recessed cartouches) to base with the Lion passant (Sterling silver), anchor (Birmingham assay) and Gothic lowercase heavily scrolled letter; S - dating to 1892.
Also clearly stamped with the makers initials (again with an oval shaped, recessed cartouche); J.C. - James Copells, Constitutional Hill, Hurst Street, Birmingham.
Original silver top ring (again clearly hallmarked with the Lion passant) to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain.
Superb clean, bright and crisp condition with no wear or damage (looks to have had very little, if any use) and just a few overall extremely fine (micro) surface scratches (probably from storage) showing under eyeglass only.
Will arrive in a new velvet presentation pouch and be very securely and safely packed.
