Pocket Watch Chain Fob Victorian Sovereign Case Antique Big Puffy 1890 Fob

Gentleman's antique original large and highly impressive Victorian brass Sovereign case fob (German) for a pocket watch chain. (Please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph). Measures; 6.1 cm height (including the top ring), 3.2cm width, 1.1cm depth and weighs a heavy 23.3 grams. Wonderful puffy square shaped brass (golden blonde) fob which is beautifully adorned to both sides (photographed as such) with elaborate scroll work set upon a very attractive engine turned background. Big highly polished shield shaped cartouche to centre (again same to either side) which are free from any inscriptions or initials. The front cover opens up when the top button is depressed, closing tightly with a very reassuring click and inside is a spring loaded, engine turned raised disc (operates correctly) with horseshoe shaped surround so allowing the wearer to securely hold a Sovereign or similar coin. Lined with bottle green baize to the inner lid which can easily be removed if desired. Good sturdy hinge with minimal play. Original large brass bow which is stamped to one side (slightly rubbed with the passage of time) with the Country of origin; GERMANY and robust/secure brass top ring to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with no wear or damage, just a tiny bit of overall patina (mainly to the inside) and few light and fine little surface scratches - all commensurate with age.
