Gentleman's original large, chunky and extremely ornate brass Sovereign case fob for a pocket watch chain.
C~1910.
(Please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph).
Measures; 5.8cm height (including the top ring), 3.2cm width, 1.4cm depth and weighs 18.3 grams.
Wonderful big puffy brass (golden blonde) fob which is beautifully and unusually adorned to the front with an elaborate ivy leaf decoration set upon a very attractive engine turned background.
To centre is a traditional Victorian 'belt buckle' design with an un-engraved shield shaped cartouche within.
The back is smooth, highly polished and free from any inscriptions or initials.
The front cover springs opens correctly when the top button is depressed, closing tightly with a very reassuring click and inside is a spring loaded (operates correctly) faux Sovereign coin disc depicting King George V with a slightly raised, engine turned horseshoe shaped surround so allowing the wearer to securely hold a Sovereign or similar coin.
Lined with bottle green baize to the inner lid which can easily be removed if desired.
Good sturdy hinge with minimal play.
Original firm swivel bow and large robust/secure brass top ring to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain.
Excellent clean and bright condition with no wear, just a few small indentations (mainly to the back) and a little bit of overall patina commensurate with age.
Will arrive in a new velvet presentation pouch and be very securely and safely packed.
