Pocket Watch Chain Sovereign Case Fob Victorian 1890s Silver Nickel Antique Fob

Victorian Gentleman's original antique (Dennison) chunky Sovereign case fob for a pocket watch chain. (Please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures - was extremely difficult to photograph). Measures; 5.6 cm height (including the top ring), 3.1cm width, 1.5cm depth and weighs a heavy 19.3 grams. Wonderful pocket watch shaped, highly polished puffy silver nickel fob which is beautifully adorned to the front with a large shield shaped, un-engraved cartouche to centre surrounded by acanthus leaves and scrollwork (the detail of which is as bright and crisp today as the day it was made). The back is smooth, highly polished and again free from any inscriptions or initials. The front cover springs opens up when the top button is depressed and the inside (underneath the green baize) is stamped feintly in arched script within a circular cartouche; A.L.D Co REGD (Aaron Lufkin Dennison - one of the founding Fathers of the American Waltham Watch Co., who moved to England to establish the Dennison Watch Case Company) and is numbered with a very low case number; 44. To base is a spring loaded, engine turned raised disc (operates correctly and is very firm) with highly polished horseshoe shaped surround so allowing the wearer to securely hold a Sovereign or similar coin. Good hinge with a little bit of play as to be expected. Original bow and large robust/secure big steel top ring to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with no wear, tiny gap between front cover and back and just a few extremely light and fine little surface scratches - all commensurate with age.
