Description
A substantial “Chronograph Centre Seconds” silver fusee pocket watch, by famous and well-documented watchmakers, Thomas Russell & Sons, of 12 Church Street, Liverpool, and “Makers to the Queen” (Victoria). Hallmarked Chester 1897, this imposing chronograph has silver hinges and stop/start side slide button. The Russell signed white enamelled dial is in excellent order, having gold main hands and a blued sweep centre seconds hand, with black Roman hour numerals and 0-300 chronograph scale Arabic numerals. The watches finely engineered fusee movement, has a three-quarter plate (again signed by Russell & Son), a compensated balance, and diamond end stone. The case maker was Thomas Peter Hewitt (“T.P.H”), of Prescot, Lancashire, and the case and movement serial numbers are the same, “126129”, which is also replicated on the dial.
