Rare W. Ehrhardt London Military Mark IVA 8-Day Pocket Watch circa 1920s A highly collectible British military issue pocket watch signed W. Ehrhardt, London, featuring the desirable Mark IVA 8-Day designation. Manufactured in the early 20th century, this robust military timepiece was designed for reliability and extended running time, operating for up to eight days on a single winding. This watch was built for service use and represents an important part of British military horological history. Examples signed by W. DIAL: The watch features a golden coloured enamel dial with bold Arabic numerals, blued steel hands, subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock, and the original military-style layout. The dial is marked: “No. 121AF W. Ehrhardt, London, Mark IVA, 8 Days" MOVEMENT: The 8-day anchor lever movement has blued screws and is numbered: 141269. The movement is in good working condition as it just came back from the watchmaker however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch. CASE: The watch lies in a steel open face case. The case is signed at the back: WD with an arrow in the middle: This stands for: War Department issued pocket watch, C 1914. History- W. Ehrhardt: William Ehrhardt was a German-born watchmaker who established one of Britain's most important watch manufacturing businesses. The company operated from Birmingham and later maintained a London office, hence the signature "W. Ehrhardt, London" seen on many military watches.
