Pocket Watch : Silver Half Hunter Longines Pocket Watch for J W Benson

The watch has a seven jewel stem-winding movement, Longines calibre 18.68N, which is working nicely. The movement has the Longines serial number 3,546,096 which dates it back to 1917. The movement is signed J W Benson, 62 & 64 Ludgate Hill, London, by Warrant to HM The Late Queen Victoria, and it is all protected by an inner hinged cover. The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and all three covers are hallmarked for London (import mark), 1917 with a mark for J W Benson, and also a mark of AB for Arthur Baume, importers of Longines watches to the UK and the Commonwealth. The case has a central lens to the front, surrounded by enamel filled Roman numerals, and engine turned detail to both the front and back. The case is in good condition, just the odd small mark but nothing too serious. The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. The dial is in very nice condition with pin-set blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
