Description
A substantial, English made, open-faced silver fusee pocket watch, named the “Improved Patent” model, (as seen on the watches dial). This unsigned robust composite watch, made specifically for the Victorian heavy industry sectors, (such as the railways).
• Silver hallmarked Chester 1896.
• White enamelled dial, and subsidiary second’s dial with bold hand-painted black Roman numerals and original gold main hands.
• Fusee movement, with compensated balance, ruby end stone and engraved Coventry ‘Star’ mark on the regulator scale, (the endorsement of exceptional engineering quality!)
• Case maker was Jesse Hallam (“J.H”), of Hertford Place, Coventry.
• Case and movement serial numbers the same: “15897.”
• Dust cap numbered: “897.”
• Comes with winding key.
