Quality 18th Century Silver Sherry Label

This is a lovely Georgian silver decanter label, with 'Sherry' engraved in pricked capitals to the front. The gauge of silver is unusually good and particularly pleasing for a 18th Century example. The border is reeded and has squared corners, with the reverse being hallmarked. Supported on a belcher chain, this would make a nice piece for the collector, or a decorative and practical item. Hallmarks:- Clear and readable. Absent town mark (Not uncommon). Maker:- John Rich Date:- London 1791
