Inlaid Walnut Queen Anne Style Cabinet by Gill & Reigate, London – 1918 A fine quality Queen Anne style walnut display cabinet by Gill & Reigate of London, dated 1918. Constructed in beautifully figured walnut with decorative crossbanding and inlaid detailing. The cabinet features a pair of glazed doors with astragal bars, enclosing shelved interiors, and stands on turned legs united by shaped stretchers. Presented in very good condition with a rich colour and pleasing patina. With an interesting label attached to the base Gill & Reigate were a respected London firm of cabinet makers, antique dealers, and interior decorators, established in the late 19th century. Operating from prominent West End premises, they catered to a high-end clientele and were known for producing fine quality furniture in traditional revival styles. The firm held a strong reputation for craftsmanship and taste, and counted members of the royal household among their patrons. Their pieces are now recognised for their quality and association with early 20th-century English interior design.
