Description
This exquisite English walnut bureau hails from the remarkable Queen Anne period, dating back to approximately 1710. It exudes an air of rarity and uniqueness, boasting an intricate design and exceptional craftsmanship. The bureau is elevated on gracefully carved claw feet, showcasing the artistry of the era.
The piece is adorned with meticulously matched book-matched veneers that add to its visual appeal. Its elegance is further accentuated by finely engraved brass handles, which provide a tactile connection to its rich history.
Upon opening the bureau, one encounters a thoughtfully designed interior. A stepped configuration includes a well, adding both practicality and charm to this piece. The fall front gracefully descends, revealing two lopers that serve as a convenient writing surface, inviting creativity and reflection.
What truly sets this bureau apart is its provenance. It comes with a remarkable piece of history, an original invoice dating back to its acquisition in 1923 by S&H Jewell for a sum of £40.00. An ivorine label further authenticates its journey through time, connecting its past with the present.
This Queen Anne walnut bureau is not just a piece of furniture; it is a living testament to the elegance and sophistication of its era. It beckons admirers to appreciate its craftsmanship and admire the stories it holds within its beautifully crafted veneers.
