Rare large mahogany and silver bailiffs walking stick or cane. Many of these canes are ebony or Malacca, this is the first mahogany one we've found. Full Birmingham hallmark to the silver pommel with the date letter for 1906 and the makers mark for Henry Perkins & Sons. The large shaft is mahogany which is rare to find with the pommel covered in silver that's been beautifully decorated. The initials RCLMM are engraved to the top. Inside the silver the top of the cane is loaded with weight to make it not only good to bang on doors at arms length but also give a person a good bop on the head if they didn't pay. You could really do some damage with this cane. Lovely decoration to the silver top with engine turned engraving around the sides. The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
It measures 91 cm 35 3/4 inches in length, the pommel is 4.2 cm 1 5/8 inches wide and 6.3 cm 2 1/2 inches long.

It's in excellent condition for it's age and purpose but with some signs of age and use as you'd expect. Some minor surface marks to the silver as shown although these are mild for a bailiffs cane. No holes or splits. The shaft is excellent with no damage or repairs and being mahogany it very strong and a good weight.
