Rare Edwardian heavy hallmarked solid silver nurses belt buckle. I've only had one other buckle in this style of panel decoration and can't find any other examples on the internet. I assume this means it was a commission piece or short-run made by the manufacturer. Made by Thomas Hayes with a full Birmingham hallmark with the date letter for 1904. Cast silver with woodland foliage and mystic masks around the borders. Each side has an inset panel with a figure in each. I think the left side is Puck and the right Titania from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream. The detail is exceptional and the buckle is heavy for its size The silver weight is 71 grams Will be delivered in a tissue-lined gift box. Happy to answer any questions.
Measures 3 5/8 inches 9.2 cm wide and 2 3/4 inches 7 cm tall.
