A rare Royal Worcester porcelain CANDLE-SNUFFER. The model is “Jenny Lind” (Diffidence, finished in green), stamped and dated 1892. ***Jenny Lind (born Stockholm 1820 ~ died Malvern 1887) was a most famous 19th century soprano opera singer, often known as the “Swedish Nightingale”. In 1852 she undertook a long tour of the United States; tickets for her performances were in such demand that they were sold by auction. She made a great deal of money and donated most of her profits to her favourite charities, principally the endowment of Free Schools in her native Sweden.
