Scottish Provincial Aberdeen silver masking or mashing spoon in old English pattern with celtic point. Masking or mashing spoons have a slightly longer handle than an ordinary teaspoon for stirring the tea leaves in the pot - mashing the tea. Marked with JE, the Boars head and the Scottish thistle. By James Erskin who was active in Aberdeen in 1790s. The terminal does not appear to have been personalised and is clear of any initials etc. Please see the photographs. In good antique condition commensurate with age and light/normal usage. Slight wear to the bowl in keeping with light usage and age. Nice patina - not over polished.
