Description
Clockwise is delighted to present to you another stunning and lovingly restored railway clock for your consideration. This fine eight day fusee chain-driven movement with anchor escapement and rectangular plates has shaped shoulders and cut-outs to the bottom plates, with turned pillars. It has just been fully dismantled, restored and cleaned and as such benefits from my three year guarantee. The original dial is written G.N.R. John Smith & Sons, Midland Clock Works, Queen St, Derby, 1023. John Smith is still trading today and are clockmakers of the highest calibre dating back to 1856. The oak case has two side doors and a bottom door with lock removed but a lovely snug fit and the case has enjoyed a full refurbishment also. A polished bezel and original spade hands compliment the dial beautifully and showcase this clock from circa 1870 as a rare and handsome piece of history with fewer examples of this genre available year on year.. The Lner clock records show this clock as last being in use at Colwick Sidings, Yard Master Carlton Field Box and that it was allocated L.N.E.R clock number 9291 which was never applied. This clock comes complete with pendulum, key and a copy of the Lner clock record.# Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service. Delivery can easily be arranged so please contact for details.
