Rare Victorian Brass Inkwell of Life Size Lobster - Reg Number 136502 - c.1888

This is a bizarre and rare 19th Century Victorian antique brass inkwell of a life-size lobster which contains a pottery inkwell—set beneath a hinged cover on the back. The two front claws are movable side to side The body has the registration number 136502 to the top under the lid and on the base of the body by the tail. Dating the design to circa 1888. Very well detailed, cast and finished Not only does this piece serve a functional purpose as an inkwell, it is a work of art in and of itself, working perfectly as a piece of sculpture.
