Description
Rare Victorian silver collar walking stick or cane. Hard wood carved bull dogs head top with a rare to find articulated mouth and glass eyes. The colour of the wood is a lovely warm rich brown, the eyes have black pupils with clear surrounds. The small spring loaded lever under his chin is the trigger that opens it's mouth. These articulated canes are hard to find especially in perfect working condition. Around his neck is the original leather collar with a wrist strap loop to the back. Below the leather is a hallmarked silver collar with the London assay office stamp with the date letter for 1891, it also has the makers stamp for John Robert Cooke and the retailers name, the famous Swaine and Adeney. Jr Cooke is the younger brother of Charles Cooke who was silversmith to Thomas Brigg & Sons. The two companies are now merged as Swaine Adeney Brigg. All mounted on a sturdy Malacca shaft. The ferrule is original and made red deer antler. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
