Regency Mahogany Hunt Table

Regency mahogany hunt table, attributed to Gillows, with demi-lune top with a removable centre section revealing a brass cross bar to accommodate the brass decanter arm on casters and hinged flaps above a plain frieze, supported on tapering reeded legs terminating in brass cups and casters. These bear the inscription “Lewty Patent” under a crown. James Windeyer Lewty is recorded as a brass founder at 120 Lichfield Street, Birmingham in the early 19th century. This Hunt or Social table was made for the dining room and supplied by Gillows with the other dining room furniture in 1813. A pair of these tables was made for Broughton Hall by Gillows in 1813.
