A useful and attractive bench, this has a tilt back seat which pivots from the legs and provides a reversible seat which can be sat upon from either side. Traditionally used for railway station platforms, they allowed a passenger to be seated facing whichever side the train was due to come in. It will make a fabulous kitchen table bench.
- Gothic style curved legs, from which the back pivots within a slot in the stretcher.
- Slightly concave, comfortable seat.
- Grooved back edge.
In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use, with some minor chipping at one end of the seat. There is some splitting in the seat at either end, extending to the slot in which the seat pivots, but this is not obtrusive and does not affect the stability of the bench.
