Description
A Roman pale blue glass unguentarium with an out-turned rim, long neck and a bulbous body. The bottle has a flattened base. Roman eastern empire: Circa 2nd-3rd Century AD. Condition: Complete and intact, with silvery iridescence over part of the body. Height 10.7 cms (4.2 ins). The long narrow neck would only have allowed small quantities at a time of the expensive contents, one of the essential oils or perfumes which would have been gathered from all corners of the expansive Roman Empire.
