Rosewood Officer’s Campaign Writing Slope on Stand – Military Portable Desk / Wine Table A 19th century rosewood writing slope presented on a later stand, forming an attractive and practical occasional table. The slope is brass bound with recessed campaign style carrying handles and corner mounts, and a central brass cartouche to the lid. The rosewood displays attractive figuring and colour, complemented by the brass mounts and fittings. Opening to reveal the traditional fitted interior with green leather writing surface decorated with a gilt tooled border, together with compartments for ink and stationery. The stand brings the piece to a comfortable height, allowing it to function equally well as a small portable desk, occasional table, or wine table beside a chair. As illustrated in the photographs, the closed slope provides a practical surface ideal for a glass and bottle.
