Description
Royal Navy Edwardian “Grog Tub”, Oak and Brass Sailor’s Rum Barrel. A super piece of British history, the barrel known as a “Grog Tub” was used to carry the Navy Rum Tot given out to twice daily to the sailors, sadly a tradition now obsolete.
This one dates from the very early 20th century, it has the navy toast in large brass letters on the side “THE KING GOD BLESS HIM”
The barrel is a 10 Gallon Tub, it is coopered in Oak and has 3 brass bands and the regulation star with a brass acorn handle on the lid and the War department broad arrow stamp on the underside.
Very rare, in good attractive used condition, this piece will adorn any room with a British Naval Theme, it is 19” high and 18.5” in diameter.
