Sampson Mordan Silver "Hatching Chick" Pin Cushion, Chester 1918

This novelty silver "hatching chick" pin cushion was designed by the collectable Sampson Mordan & Co and is fully hallmarked for Chester 1918. The pin cushion is designed as a newly hatched chick sitting in half an egg shell. It is beautifully detailed, with the chick's back being the cushion, which is finished in the original purple velvet. The chick is 'weighted' in such a way that, should it be knocked over, it will 'right' itself. Hallmarks: SM & Co for Sampson Mordan & Co Ltd. Lion passant. Chester Assay mark.
