Description
This is the brooch that, worldwide, says the wearer is Scottish, the brooch that most people identify as from Scotland. Oval in shape with a central deep orange paste stone meant to be a cairngorm but isn't, with 6 half moon shaped agate stones set around the rim, jasper and bloodstone, though one of the bloodstones has a distinct bluish cast, silver to the front is knurled or etched with a pattern. Stamped to the reverse with "sterling silver" and one letter of the makers mark "W", so that's Ward Bros. in Glasgow. Suitable as a kilt brooch, plaid brooch or just a nice brooch to wear. Period 1940s to late 1950s. around 1.5 x 1.0 inch. All is good, cleaned but not polished.
